Product Introduction

Rhodium-Ruthenium Plating Equipment (JYC-RhRu-Series)

Built for the Hardest Precious Metal Coatings

High-end connectors, sliding contacts, relays, and medical electrodes. These products need extreme wear resistance and low contact resistance. Our Rhodium-Ruthenium Plating Equipment is designed for them. Rhodium coatings have a Vickers hardness of 750 to 850. Ruthenium coatings have hardness of 700 to 900. Both are far harder than gold (gold is only 70 to 90). Coating thickness is typically 0.5 to 2.5 microns. Contact resistance is as low as 1 to 5 milliohms. Performance meets ASTM B679 and MIL-G-45204. Our LCP electroless copper plus pattern plating line for Southeast University contributed to aerospace applications of LCP.

Materials and Construction for Corrosive Solutions

Rhodium and ruthenium solutions are highly corrosive. Tanks use PVDF or PTFE linings. Heaters use high-purity quartz or platinum-coated titanium. Closed-loop solution circulation and exhaust gas collection systems prevent hazardous gas escape. Anodes use platinum-coated titanium mesh. This ensures long-term stable current distribution.

Three Core Advantages

First, hardness and wear resistance are extremely high.

After one million insertion and extraction cycles, wear depth on rhodium-ruthenium coatings is under 0.1 micron. The wear rate is only one-fiftieth that of gold coatings. This is especially good for high-frequency mating applications.

Second, arc resistance is excellent.

At 24V 2A DC load, rhodium-ruthenium coated contacts show contact resistance increase under 3 milliohms after 10,000 switching cycles. There is no significant arc erosion.

Third, the coating is pore-free.

Pulse plating makes the coating very dense. At just 0.75 microns thick, the coating has no pores. This is verified by nitric acid vapor porosity testing. Gold coatings need 1.27 microns to achieve the same density.

What Buyers Often Ask

Buyers ask us: "High-end connector or medical electrode customers have very high quality requirements. How do you guarantee quality?" We integrate online thickness monitoring (XRF) and current density distribution optimization systems. Plating temperature control precision is ±0.5°C. Current density range is 0.5 to 4 A/dm². We support custom designs. Vertical continuous plating or selective spot plating processes can be configured as needed. We also provide rhodium and ruthenium recovery from spent solutions. Our cooperation with Southeast University on the experimental line proves our technical capability in cutting-edge materials plating.
